About ScaleStreetUK
Hi, I’m Nik - the modeller behind ScaleStreetUK.
I’ve always been fascinated by machines, vehicles and the small details that make them what they are. Scale modelling gives me the chance to take that fascination and recreate it in miniature, one part at a time. What started as a hobby has developed into ScaleStreetUK, where I build detailed scale models for customers who want something more personal than a model simply taken out of a box and assembled.
I’m a Technical Engineer by profession, so I naturally approach modelling with a fairly obsessive eye for detail. I enjoy understanding how things fit together, figuring out how something should look, and finding ways to reproduce those details at a fraction of the original size. Whether that means adding aftermarket parts, scratch-building details, getting the paint and finish right, or spending far too long trying to make something that will barely be seen look convincing - that’s all part of the process!
I build cars, trucks, aircraft, military subjects and dioramas, but what really interests me is making each model feel like a real object in miniature. A clean road car should have the right depth and finish; a working vehicle should look like it has actually been used; and a diorama should tell a story rather than simply provide something for the model to sit on.
Every ScaleStreetUK commission is built by me, by hand, from the first pieces of plastic through to the final details. No two builds are exactly the same, because every customer has their own subject, ideas and reasons for wanting a model made. For me, that is what makes scale modelling so enjoyable. It isn’t just about building a kit. It’s about taking hundreds of tiny parts, a collection of paints and tools, and a lot of patience - and turning them into something that means something to somebody.
That’s what ScaleStreetUK is about.
