Background: This model represents the MG Metro 6R4 as campaigned on the 1986 Lombard RAC Rally, one of the final events of the legendary Group B era. Driven by British rally stars such as Tony Pond and co-driver Rob Arthur during the 1986 season, the 6R4 became renowned for its distinctive sound, explosive acceleration and unconventional engineering approach. The model is finished in a carefully researched period livery, with accurate colours, sponsor markings and event-specific details faithfully reproduced.

Unlike many of its Group B rivals, the Metro 6R4 relied on a naturally aspirated mid-mounted 3.0-litre V6 engine developed by Williams Grand Prix Engineering rather than turbocharging. Producing in excess of 400 bhp in competition specification, power was delivered through a sophisticated permanent four-wheel-drive system that gave the car exceptional traction on loose surfaces. Its lightweight composite bodywork, short wheelbase and aggressively flared arches combined to create one of the most recognisable silhouettes of the Group B era.
